A grant of $5,000 was provided to the DJ Rowell Foundation for their Rockem Nation Basketball Camp. The camp, held each summer in Marion, is in its fourth year. This year’s camp drew record attendance with over 160 children participating in the weeklong program. DJ Rowell, a graduate of Marion High School, played basketball at Ohio Valley University in Virginia and Queens University in Charlotte. He established the foundation to support his community and hometown. “Believe, dream, and roll up your sleeves. Work to continuously knock down obstacles that stand between you and your success” said DJ.
Funding provided by the foundation, along with other community donations, will be used to procure supplies, equipment, referees and other items needed to run the camp. The camp is free to all participants.
