On 6/27/19 the foundation awarded a grant in the amount of $2,300 to the City of Marion for their summer reading program. This year’s program, in partnership with the Marion County Library System, is themed “A Universe of Stories.”

Through this program, hundreds of local children will have fun learning opportunities all summer long. This goal is accomplished by focusing the programming around STEAM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math as well as literature and reading. By incorporating these elements into programming, children are given the opportunity to exercise the skills that they learn during the school year all summer long and go back to school prepared, refreshed, and ready to learn more.

“Marion County Library is deeply grateful for all of the support we have received from the City of Marion. The City has gone above and beyond to ensure the success of our Summer Reading Program, by providing prizes to further incentivize reading and learning during the summer months and also by providing extra special touches to our programs. The children are eager to take home books to read and have been so excited every time they come into the library! It truly takes a village, and we are so thankful for such great neighbors!” said Ashley Hall, Youth Services Librarian.
