$500,000 Grant will transform colorectal care in Marion County

The MUSC Marion Medical Center received a $500,000 grant from the Marion County Healthcare Foundation to help address colorectal cancer which disproportionately affects residents in Marion County.   The grant will fund state-of-the-art screening technology as well as a nurse navigator for the medical center.  “Early detection is key.  Colorectal cancer is 100% preventable when it’s caught early” said Shametra Myers, executive director of MUSC Health Marion Medical Center.   In recognition of the partnership, and almost $1,000,000 in grants that the healthcare foundation has provided to MUSC Marion, the hospital dedicated the atrium in the name of the foundation.   Pictured above are the foundation board members along with its Executive Director.
